Overview
In this V-Commerce experience, customers were able to browse from homeware collections and replace items in the room to simulate their own living spaces, adding to their virtual wishlist along the way. Taking those wishlist items into their own custom design space, customers could recreate their homes with new pieces of furniture and homewares, confident in their purchase decision, having experienced them spatially
There is nothing worse than buying furniture online or in-store only to discover that when it eventually lands in your home it is the wrong size for the space or doesn’t suit the other elements in the room
Approach
Design and build the proprietary VR Commerce design system utilised by the studio team for building out experiences for brands wanting to merchandise their physical products in VR.
Unlike the web and mobile, VR doesn’t have decades of standardization of interactions to leverage when designing immersive experiences. The existing conventions are used mainly for gaming and entertainment and were not developed specifically for merchandising and commerce.
The purpose of this design system was to take a rigorous approach to designing, prototyping, testing, and codifying the most appropriate interaction paradigms for the use case.
