The Ask
The introduction animation was conceived by the G-Star in-house team and Christian Borstlap of Part of a Bigger Plan—who also created the illustrations and character design. The narration and lyrics are by Pharrell Williams.
The animation was made to bring to life ideas from the long-term collaboration between Bionic Yarn and G-Star Raw. Each season they have been creating a collection that is made from recycled ocean plastics.
Approach
Glassworks we’re approached with a challenging timeline and a very time consuming animation approach. I was tasked with finding the right hand drawn animation team to collaborate with. The film was finished and delivered in Amsterdam along with a final mix provided by Pharrell himself!
