Overview

Formosa is Red Pill VR's first proof-of-concept experience of the Audio Lifeform. It's a creative concept born from realtime audio-reactive musical visualization tech aimed at embodying music itself with life, intelligence, and behavior.

Approach

An initial version debuted at Oculus Connect 3 in October 2016 featuring a single jellyfish that contained musical data from all four of the engine's instrumentation groupings (drums, bass, chords, and lead) flowing through one body. A second version debuted at CES 2017 which featured a several jellyfish autonomously swimming around you that each represent a musical element. The jellyfishes' paths dictate a 3D audio mix relative to your perspective, and there is a rudimentary amount of remixing possible (solo/mute, high pass/low pass filter, etc).

Results

Was a driving factor in the initial raising the five million dollar investment in Red Pill VR
